Website Redesign and Component Library

Client
OneBlood

OneBlood, a network of blood donation centers in the Southeastern US, approached Rightpoint looking to fully redesign their website as they moved to a new CMS. Our small team made substantial aesthetic and functional updates across the site - improving navigability, accessibility compliance, and overall visual unity. Designers and developers worked hand-in-hand to ensure timely releases of new pages and quick resolutions to any conflicts that arose during the compressed timeframe. Through our combined efforts, the design team brought the website leaps and bounds forward in both experience and visuals. We generated visual assets and reusable components that brought cleanliness and clarity to what was before a scattered and clunky visual identity. From promoting donation events to bringing donor stories to the forefront, we set out to present the site's content with the same friendliness and professionalism OneBlood's employees put into their important work.

My most significant contribution to the project was my effort to organize and componentize our Figma file. Upon entering the project, I was presented with dozens of pages, each with dozens of one-off components that had to be individually changed with even the smallest design update. Utilizing my knowledge of Figma's design system capabilities, I created standardized sets of components that not only provided the development team with a singular source of truth to reference, but also allowed us to update dozens of component instances across the entire site all at once. This system dramatically eased collaboration with the development team and empowered the client to continue mocking up new pages of their site after our engagement had ended.
